Cool Green

COOL GREEN is prepared using Low Temperature (LT) Cooking Methodology and is formulated for the needs of herbivorous and omnivorous fish, both marine and freshwater species. Our process results in a soft-bodied, naturally green, leaf-like flake. Formerly PhytoPlankton Plus.

5.0 out of 5 stars  My goto marine food

My reef tank prefers cool green over just about everything but ROE. My most finicky fish (purple queen anthias) will eat this over frozen mysis. And it's affordable enough to feed to my koi fry as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars  Fish love it, they got their appetite back
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on January 25, 2023

Tilapia became very bored with the pellet feed that was high fat/protein. I wanted to get them some vegetables; found this and tried it out. Not only did the fish love it (a bit too much honestly), their appetite for the other feeds returned. Highly recommend. Get in touch with them and they'll do bulk. B.L.

5.0 out of 5 stars  Brawndo for fish!

It’s what fish want. My fish are dumb in most subjects, but when it comes to food they let me know that Cool Green is what they want. Their only complaint is that the buckets are not big enough.
The colors of my pets have been brighter and even the spawns seem larger since I started using this food. I wish they could make a sinking pellet out of this that is about 3mm-5mm in diameter to feed to my bottom dwelling catfish and my pond full of banded high fin sharks. I’m sure they would grow better eating this than they do on what I’m getting from other suppliers. G.B.

COOL GREEN provides herbivorous fish with a wide array of plant proteins and natural color enhancing compounds derived from spirulina (Arthrospira platensis), kelp (Ascophyllum nodosum), chlorella spp., schizochitrium limacinum, Paracoccus carotinifaciens, and garlic. And, because Cool Cooking Methodology gently dries our mixtures at half the temperature of conventional flaking and pelleting processes, we are able to maintain the integrity of delicate organic compounds found in nature.

Low temperature (LT) cooking methodology surpasses pelleting, extrusion, and conventional flaking processes for preserving lipids and vitamins and maintaining the integrity of marine proteins, flavourants and attractants - giving our customers ever greater assurance that all the care, time and money that they spend on their show and reef tanks will be equaled by the pride we take in our product.

(Spoiler alert: The testimonial from the fish is the best!)

COOL GREEN also includes beneficial bacteria to facilitate the conversion of fish and food waste into microbial biomass and harmless carbon dioxide. Unlike beneficial bacteria touted in conventionally processed flakes and pellets, the bacteria in COOL GREEN remain viable through the Cool Cooking process.

To aid in the sustainability of our ocean’s resources, we've added highly nutritious black soldier fly larvae to our LT diets. This allows us to reduce our reliance on pelagic fish, krill and other resources that are increasingly under pressure. We don't cut corners in the formulation of our flakes, but we do try to make effective use of the proteins that are available to us!

Proximate Analysis: Protein, 43.9%; Fat, 12.8%; Ash, 6.6%; Fiber, 2.4%; Moisture, 11.5%; Vitamin C, 1,750 ppm; astaxanthin 150 ppm (calc. value). (Midwest Laboratories. Feb 1, 2023)

I liked that it was in LARGE flakes. I have to feed a ton of fish and this is perfect for me. Don't know about flavor, not a fish. Anonymous

This food comes in very large flakes, easy for fish to consume enough to be well fed. My Tropheus began breeding the very week I started using this food. I strongly recommend this food for your herbivories, their colors will speak in favor of food. What are you waiting for? Place an order and show your love for your colony. H.A.

My red eye and buenos aires tetras love it. I recommend crushing it in your hands before feeding though. They didn't know what to do with a whole sheet of food. K.Q.
