Calcium Liquid, 1 L
Product details
Provides all invertebrates with vital calcium. Especially enhances the growth of hard corals, tridacna shells, serpulidae and haptophytes. Enriched with Sr, Mn, B, Ba, and further trace elements. Suitable for dosing pumps. Contains 100,000 mg Ca.
The main elements calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg) and hydrogen carbonates (HCO3) have a decisive impact on the water stability (pH-value, alkalinity / carbon hardness) in the reef aquarium. In the right proportion to one another, calcium is the most important basic building material for the calcareous skeletons (aragonite) of all reefforming corals. Calcium liquid provides a combination of calcium, hydrogen carbonate and trace elements for best possible biological utilisation to support healthy coral growth. Soft and leather corals, mussels, tube worms and algae, apart from hard corals, also need a sufficient concentration of calcium for growth. The additional trace elements iron and manganese encourage the formation of important symbiotic algae (zooxanthellae), which play an important role in calcification (skeleton formation). Calcification proceeds according to the following equation: Ca2+ +HCO3- -> Ca(HCO3)2 ->CaCO3 + H2CO3
Dosing: 10 ml increase the calcium content by 10 mg for every 100 l. The calcium content should be between 380 mg/l and 420 mg/l. Suitable for dosing pumps.
Calcium, along with alkalinity, is one of the most important parameters in the marine aquarium and is about 390 mg/l in natural seawater. The skeletons of corals (SPS, LPS), mussels (e.g. Tridacna), algae and many invertebrates (e.g. calcareous tube worms) are largely made up of calcium carbonates. Due to precipitation processes and the fact that calcium and magnesium are removed from the aquarium by being incorporated into the skeletons of different corals, the quantity concentrations and the quantity ratio of trace elements to each other change in the marine aquarium. Therefore, the supply of minerals to the reef aquarium, especially the regular replenishment of calcium and magnesium salts as well as hydrogen carbonate, plays a decisive role. The regular addition of calcium supports healthy coral growth. Each aquarium has its own requirements of calcium, magnesium and hydrogen carbonate due to the different number of consumers. The dosage should always be adapted to this consumption. The optimum calcium content in a marine aquarium is between 380 and 400 mg/l.
Power Calcium and Calcium liquid provide all calcifying organisms with the necessary mineral calcium and sustainably promote healthy coral growth. By adding Power Calcium, biologically usable calcium is immediately available to the animals in the form of calcium hydrogen carbonate (Ca(HCO3)2). One dosing spoon increases the calcium concentration by approx. 10 mg/l per 100 litres.
